Track Bodywork

This is a set of Sharkskinz, painted to prototype the final paint work on the carbon. It's also my track bodywork, let's see how long she stays this pretty... Colors are a dark (fine) metallic charcoal, Electric Blue Pearl, and a fine metallic silver. Medium gray pinstripe around the borders of the number plates, to give them some "pop." I tried to matc the carbon on the bike as closely as possible with the color, and it turned out pretty nice. The blue fades along the trailing edges of the upper and tail, and compliments the blue anodizing work nicely. The wheels have been powder coated in a very fine metallic silver, almost a pearl. Really iridescent, the silver powder shows off the contour of the spokes nicely.

Here's a Photoshop over the original all-carbon bike photo, and was the idea I was shooting for. This will be the paint scheme that will later go over the carbon bodywork. The main dark grey will simply be exposed carbon fiber with a clearcoat. The number plates, belly, and fade will be as shown, shot over the carbon. Here's the graphic mock-up of how it was intended to turn out:

And here's the final resut. Just starting to get some of the decals sorted.

Action Photos!!

Had my maiden voyage(s) at a couple trackdays in late October, and somehow managed to dodge the "Curse of the Fancy Fresh Paintjob..." Stayed rubber-side down both days. I had picked up a set of 16.5" Marvic Piumas and had my first ever track experience with slicks on this day at Grattan. The slicks were phenomenal, I'm hooked. Super confidence inspiring. I don't have 17" slick experience, so I can't say whether I could tell a difference between 17" slicks and 16.5"s, but... The 16.5" slicks were truly awesome feeling compared to 17" race compound DOT's. I'll likely never go back for track work.

(Special thanks to Karoline Sheldon of Fotomadness for the fine track photos!!)

Thanks for coming by to check out my bike!
