This is my Ducati 748 Racebike. It's a clean-titled 1997 748, that was race-prepped by Mark Sutton (former engine builder, crew chief, and Team Manager of HMC Ducati's race team), Head Mechanic at the "DucShop" of Marietta, GA

Background

Since this is a '97, it's an early enough 748 that it has all of the standard superbike base amenities, including the adjustable steering head. The bike had 300 original street miles when it was cosmetically damaged. Mark purchased the bike and proceeded to build it into a racebike. It has run in various forms since then, a brief stint as a club racer and later as the "B" bike for Mike Smith's AMA ProThunder effort. Mark rebuilt it as a stock-bore 748, and built it as a club racing bike for himself. It was sold to a Fasttrax racer in Ohio in September 2003, and then traded to me in June 2004.

I'm told this is a 350lb. bike, but I'll need to weigh it to be sure exactly where it's at. It is a very trick 748, and is covered in Corse parts that Mark had gathered over the years in his time with HMC. Many, many parts bear the Ducati Corse serial number tags, indicative of authentic factory race bits. It'll serve as a track bike for me, and as a club racer when I feel I'm ready to get out there and bang elbows in the meatgrinder class, or get clobbered by the LiterTwins in HWTSB...
